Falls from height are one of the biggest causes of workplace fatalities and major injuries, often from ladders and through fragile roofs. The Working at Height Regulations 2005 is there to try and prevent death and injury from a fall from height.
Working at height means working in any place where, if there were no precautions in places such as railings or fall protection, a person could fall a distance liable to cause injury. There is no minimum height restriction to classify work as being ‘at height’ and people who do so must have the necessary skills, knowledge and experience.
This is a general awareness course for employees and employers covering all aspects of ladder safety. The course is designed to satisfy the training and awareness requirements of relevant legislation and regulations including the Working at Height Regulations 2005 and the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974. It also meets the requirements of CHAS, SafeContractor, ConstructionLline, Exor and other SSIP registrations plus HSE safety training requirements.

This online working at height training will help organisations meet their legal obligations and provide candidates with a thorough awareness of the dangers associated with working at height activities involving the use of ladders and stepladders and the management and control measures required to control the risks.
After completing the course, candidates will:
Understand the risks associated with working at height activities.
Have knowledge of the legal and regulatory framework that underpins working at height activities.
Be aware of the methods required to assess the risk from working off ladders and stepladders.
Have knowledge on preventing personal injury.
Have knowledge of safe use of ladders and stepladders
The course comprises 4 interactive modules and a final assessment. Links to recommended reading and additional resources may be provided within the training modules. These links are not mandatory and will not be tested for in the final assessment.
It takes approximately 75 minutes to complete the course in full. This can be spread out over multiple sessions or completed in a single session. There is no time limit for completion.
Assessment
All candidates must complete a multiple choice assessment after working through the training material. The candidate will be asked 12 multiple choice questions, randomly chosen from a larger question pool, and need to answer a minimum of 9 correctly to pass. Candidates will be given instant feedback after completing the assessment stating whether they have passed or failed. The assessment can be re-taken as many times as is required to pass at no additional cost.

Successful candidates will receive a RoSPA Assured/CPD Certificate and 1 CPD Credit.
The Working at Height safety awareness certificate has no expiry date because there is no formally recognised period of validity for any health and safety training. The HSE recommends refresher training is carried out whenever it is felt necessary. Safety registration bodies such as CHAS, SafeContractor, ConstructionLine & SMAS and other members of the SSiP scheme recommend most re-training is done every 3 years.
